Photo: Evening on the North Rim by Robert Garry

Back to our photo tour! With my new lens in hand we went off to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This day, June 16th turns out to be the day that my external hard drive crashed! I lost most of my photos from 2017. But I was unaware of this when we were visiting the North Rim. So I was excited and wanted to get back to taking pictures. The photo above was one of my favorite from the North Rim. Instead of taking many photos, I was simply trying to get one or two good photos.
Evening on the North Rim was the sum of this effort.
I have noticed a change in my approach to taking photos. I now spend more time planning how I might take a photo. When I get to a location, I hike around getting to know the spot. If you are going to be at a location for only a few hours this is crucial. I have many times on this trip found a place and soon found myself surrounded by other professional photographers that also have liked the same spot.
For an example of this, below is a spot that both Kini and I shot.

After taking some test shots we check out our shots, and discuss our results.
