Kini loves daisies is the cover for our new blog-photojourney. Taking a moment to rest and let the jet lag melt away...
When we got to Portland totally exhausted, we found out that Hertz screwed up our car reservation and we had no car. Glad I was too tired to panic. My goal was to go to Peter's Karaoke bar and listen to him sing, with the bonus that Kristan joined us. A treat, but when you haven't slept for two days, a wall of sound is awesome/turbulence.
Our weariness helped to create an amazing photo! So surreal. Imagine sitting at the window of the Boiler Room Karaoke bar, sound so loud that you cannot think, looking outside at the quiet street. The photo is so quiet, unlike the truth of the situation. The little cart does it for me.
What a night! And what a contrast to my next photo op, the Japanese tea Garden in Washington Park. I come here to photograph the famous "zen tree". But I did not get the photo I wanted. I will come again this fall for my next attempt. Kini meanwhile brings forth her buddha mind, Kinizen.
Turns out there is a bonsai exhibit at the Garden. But I got another maple shot for now. (Not the zen tree though)
We then went down to my son John's place in Nehalem, Oregon. We are both getting into photography and he showed me some of his latest work.
This journey has been filled with odd coincidences, here is one. When we got to John and Jericho's place, I wanted to take Jericho to a dinner and a movie for his birthday. My little girl and her boyfriend joined us for dinner at the Pizza Garden restaurant, that sits right on the Nehalem river in the same building where 30 years ago I had my stainedglass studio!
