When you take a lot of photos you, at some point realize that the camera sees differently than the eye. I even see different colors in each of my eyes, so I can easily understand the the camera sensors are not the same as my rods and cones. What I am becoming more aware of is how the camera sensors collect an image. Some people may not fully realize that the digital camera processes the image in camera according to various rules set by the manufacturer. To remove as much of this camera processing as possible, the photo industry has developed a format called Raw. Raw files are for the most part unprocessed and uncompressed unlike jpeg files. So if you take your photos in Raw format you will need to do some post processing. Enter photoshop. With photoshop or some similar Raw processing software, you are able to (hopefully) restore the image to what you saw or some variation of what you saw. Now the art stuff kicks in. These same tools can let you work with your image in a myriad of ways. You already know this most likely. So now I am experimenting with the tools in photoshop as a part of my journey into photography. Eventually I will develop my own styles, but for now...just having fun. This image is a high contrast experiment.
